Digital rights and
responsibilities are the freedom and requirements that is extended to everyone
in the digital world. (IIE Digital Citizenship Student Manual, 2016)
Petition:
North Korea, Vietnam, China
and Cuba citizens have no digital rights and therefore needs a digital bill of
rights drawn up to ensure that citizen’s rights of these countries are not and
will not be violated. By having a digital bill of rights for such countries
will ensure that those using the internet will be safe with privacy, therefore
encouraging more people and usage of the internet. By this, citizen’s will not
only have access to technology but also getting help and getting used to the
various online platforms. Everyone in the world have the right to access and
use technology and to utilise digital rights and responsibilities that citizens
should be aware off.
Benefits of being a digital
native:
- More multimedia orientated.
- Developed a common language (usage of short words/slang).
- Online friends.
- Actively involved.
- Strive to be independent.

Digital bill of rights for the
internet:
- The right to anyone and
everyone to access the internet equally.
- The right to share opinions
and views online.
- To be accountable for
anything that you as a citizen create on the internet.
- The right to have uncensored
internet.
- The right openness of any citizen
that uses the internet.
- All citizens shall not be
limited to the content of data.
- All citizens shall not be
limited to any protocols within the internet.
- The right to privacy.
- The right to data security.
- The restriction of access to
the internet for any kind reason shall be terminated.
